"Meditation Retreat (Feb 13 - Feb 17)Led by Ven. Tenzin Legtsok"
Details:This retreat will focus on meditations, which are the basic foundations for development on the path to enlightenment. As relative beginners on this path, a major obstacle to gaining insight is the negative karma in our mindstreams, which we have created over countless lifetimes. Therefore, at the outset of our practice, it is important to purify this karma & destructive habituation through the practice of confession. Each morning, we'll practice meditating on the 4 opponent powers & reciting the Sutra of Moral Downfalls as a means to purify our minds.
The positive basis for developing realizations is a collection of positive karma or merit. The most powerful objects in relation to which we may create merit are the Buddha, our spiritual guides, & the field of sentient beings. In order to accumulate such energy we'll daily meditate on Shakyamuni Buddha, the seven limb practice, & train our minds in the most benevolent attitudes of love, compassion, & wisdom.

Having well prepared the ground of our mental continuum, through purification & accumulation, we'll meditate extensively on The Precious Human Rebirth &, Impermanence & Death. These two topics taken together, strongly compel us to make the most meaningful use of our lives immediately, without delay, & serve as the basis for all subsequent meditation, on the graduated path to enlightenment.
